While creating the second workflow step “Change Request Status”, the lookup for Tasks does not show the field “Is Employee from Your Department”

I double checked, that field was created to the task in step 1 with “Collect Data from User” action

Please let me know why its hot showing up that field?

Am struck there. thank you and appreciate in advance for your feedback

The ‘Is Employee in your Department’ is created automatically as a Content Type on the site. I wonder if the person starting the workflow does not have appropriate rights to create the Content Type..

    Hi Asif,

On Clicking Preview, I don’t see the data being populated into the ‘department head’ text box. While clicking preview I received ‘access denied’ message. then went to Form options
-> Security and Trust -> Chose Full Trust…option button. Now, am not receiving ‘Access denied’ message but the data is not still getting populated. Please advise.

SharePoint and InfoPath interaction could be complex depending on what security auth you are using and many other factors. I wish I had a clear answer for you on this, but the truth is that without seeing your environment, I have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes. Sorry.

    ASif,

the example is awesome !. Very helpful.. I had lot of forms to automate and I will be using your example as reference to understand the steps. Great work !.

However, I have query.. for instance, I have a form which has multiple approvals (3 approvals for instance) and each approver will update his/her comments (it has been created in workflow using “Collect Data” method). In my Infopath Form, I have create the area for those 3 approvers comments and this can not be filled by userd upon form submittal (read only text fields.). Upon all the approvals, I need to update the form with all the approvers name and their comments and datge/time of approvals.. and this form will be printed out by notification user for his action. How this can be done ? Basically what I am trying to do .. all the approvers comments and their name to be populated to form upon each workflow action. How can I do this ? Kinldy help…if not possible, how business manage and justify the approvals as proof their action and attach certian documents which will have to show all the approers as justification for such a aciton…

Hope my question is clear.. otherwise pls let me know.

    Rgds
    AJ

Ahmed, look into the videos on digital signatures. You can lock sections of the form once they have been digitally signed which is what might be needed in your scenario.

    Asif,

Excellent videos are presentation, Thank you

I had converted a word template into Infopath successfully
Published it to the Form library (newly created via InfoPath publishing process). Publihed template is used when I try to create a New Document in Form lirary
Next I updated the form fields and then try to publish it again, I am facing form open issue – opens in InfoPath Application but not in browser

Publishing Wizard: Selected To a Sharepoint Server….
    Next
SharePoint Site URL is correct (where my Form Lirary exist)
    Next
Selected: Enable this form to be filled out by using the a browser
Message says: An Administrator must approve this form template before it can be filled out using a browser
    Checked: Administrator-Approved from template (advanced)

Not sure how to approve the form template – logged in as farm account and also using site owner account
Please can you help with the steps to republish and approve the template

I don’t have a video (yet) or Administrator approved form templates, but I have made a note now to create it.

This process is accomplished through Forms Services option in Central Administration by a server administrator. You need to upload the InfoPath form template there first, then activate it to a site collection. Then a new content type containing your form template will automatically be available throughout that site collection that you can attach to a form library and start using.

    Hi, new to sharepoint.

I’m having difficulty creating a connection to an external source (ie. sharepoint library). A simple example is i create a list, create a “choice” column that has 3 employees in it. however, when i try and tie it in with the infopath form field it doesn’t show the entries.

    What am i doing wrong?

    Ryan.

    Asif,

very nice video. It is very helpful for me. How can I copy the form into another library in the SharePoint after getting all the approval from different approvers through the work flow?
    Thanks,
    Anu.

    Anu,

You can use the Copy List Item to copy the item then Delete List Item to delete it. Unfortunately, there is no Move Item activity :-)

Is there a way (control) for selecting birth date without using the date picker that comes with InfoPath controls?. It is not easy to select a date when the event happened many years ago.
Do you have a way to calcularte age? I need a formula that tells me how old in years, months and days a peson is.

You don’t have to use the date picker control for dates. You can use a text box and change the data type to Date.

For calculating date differences, there is no easy way in InfoPath 2007 to do this without code. Here is a ‘complex’ way of doing it (although I have not tried it yet):
    http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/calculate-date-difference-infopath-rules-formulas.htm

    Good luck!

This ended abruptly. Not sure whether it was the video or the connection.

    Thanks.
